Cannabis users may require a double dosage of anesthesia for surgeries

In accordance with a small-scale research, individuals who regularly use marijuana may need twice the quantity of sedation typically needed by non-users once they are undergoing surgical procedures.

The scientists studied 250 clients in Colorado that has undergoneminimally invasive procedures — mostly colonoscopies — that want anesthesia. Hawaii has recently legalized both recreational and medical cannabis.

Associated with final number of clients, ten percent said which they utilized cannabis frequently.

The scientists also contrasted three widely used sedation drugs for endoscopic procedures — midazolam, propofol, and fentanyl — to have a better picture of just how weed affects the potency of different varieties of anesthesia.
